ICUrriculum (“the App”) is a course planning and campus life app for students at International Christian University (ICU). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect:

Your name
Your email address
Your password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your plain-text password)
Your major code and graduation year

Usage Data

Courses you enroll in or add to your timetable
Course ratings and votes you submit
Friends you connect with within the app

Automatically Collected

Basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) for security and debugging purposes

We do not collect location data, contacts, camera/microphone access, or any device identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the App (login, timetable, course tracking)
To show your progress toward graduation requirements
To display your timetable to friends you have connected with (only if you enable this)
To allow companies to list internship opportunities visible to all users
To improve the App based on anonymous usage patterns

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Internship Listings & Commercial Use

Companies may pay to list internship opportunities within the App. These listings are visible to all users. We do not share your personal information (name, email, etc.) with these companies without your explicit consent.

We do not share your personal information with third parties except:

Service providers necessary to operate the App (e.g., cloud hosting on Render)
Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect user safety

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 8).

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures including:

HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
Hashed passwords (bcrypt)
Secure token-based authentication (JWT)

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for university students (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent at any time

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify users within the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
